Type 1 Diabetes — Lived Experience

A Personal Connection to Diabetes

"I know what it feels like to manage diabetes every single day — not just physically, but emotionally."

Shoshana didn't come to this work by accident. She grew up living with Type 1 Diabetes, and from an early age she understood the quiet, invisible weight that comes with a chronic illness. The constant vigilance, the fear, the moments of feeling utterly alone in a struggle that others couldn't see — she lived it. That experience became the foundation of her calling.

Unable to find the kind of support she needed as a young person navigating both diabetes and its emotional toll, Shoshana made a decision: she would become that support for others. She would be the person who truly gets it — because she does.

Education, Training & Expertise

After earning her Master's in Social Work from Long Island University, Shoshana built a broad and deeply skilled clinical practice. Her areas of expertise include:

  • The emotional and psychological impact of living with diabetes
  • Disordered eating, body image, and the complex relationship people have with food
  • Anxiety — including specialized training in Rewiring the Anxious Brain, an evidence-based approach that helps clients break free from anxious patterns and build calmer, more balanced lives
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — after experiencing the profound impact of EFT in her own marriage, Shoshana attended a 4-day intensive experiential EFT externship and has made this transformative modality a cornerstone of her clinical work

🌱

Whole-Person Care

Your diagnosis is not your identity. Shoshana's work centers on helping you reconnect with who you are beyond diabetes — your relationships, your joy, your sense of self.

The Human Behind the Therapist

Outside the therapy room, Shoshana is a mother of four — including a set of twins (double the chaos, double the love, and absolutely no sugarcoating it). She is grateful for a deeply supportive husband, and their shared commitment to emotional attunement and growth inspired her own journey into EFT — a journey that has shaped both her marriage and her clinical work in the most meaningful ways.

She finds joy in travel, nature, and spontaneous adventures with her kids. She also runs a creative kosher candy business, crafting beautiful custom platters for special occasions — because she believes life's sweetest moments deserve to be celebrated.

Shoshana brings all of herself to her work: her lived experience, her clinical training, her warmth, and her genuine belief that healing is not only possible — it is within reach.

You deserve a therapist who understands your world.

Whether you're newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for decades, Shoshana offers a compassionate, informed space where you can finally feel understood. In-person sessions available in Greenwood Village, CO — virtual sessions available throughout Colorado and New Jersey.
